Независимый причастный оборот
(The Nominative Absolute Participial Construction)
Конструкция “независимый причастный оборот” (the Nominative Absolute Participial Construction) состоит из сочетания существительного в общем падеже (реже местоимения в именительном падеже) и причастия I или причастия II. Действие, выраженное причастием, относится к этому существительному (или местоимению). В предложении независимый причастный оборот выступает в роли различных обстоятельств. При переводе независимого причастного оборота часто применяется внутреннее или внешнее членение предложения — разделение одного предложения на два или более.
Когда эта конструкция стоит в начале предложения, она имеет значение обстоятельства времени, причины или условия. На русский язык передаётся соответствующим придаточным предложением:
| Weather permitting, we shall go to the country. | Если погода позволит, мы поедем за город. |
| It being very cold, we could not go skiing. | Так как было очень холодно, мы не смогли пойти кататься на лыжах. |
| It being pretty late, we went upstairs. | Так как было довольно поздно, мы пошли наверх. |
| The sun having risen, we continued our way. | После того как солнце взошло, мы продолжили свой путь. |
| The task completed, he left. | Когда задание было выполнено, он ушёл. |
Когда независимый причастный оборот стоит в конце предложения, он, как правило, передает дополнительную информацию и имеет значение обстоятельства сопутствующих обстоятельств. В этом случае на русский язык он передаётся внутренним или внешним членением — частью сложносочинённого предложения, либо бессоюзно, либо вводимой союзами а, и, причём, при этом, или самостоятельным простым предложением:
| He walked carefully, his boots creaking at every step. | Он тихо шёл; сапоги у него скрипели при каждом шаге. |
| Не continued his work, his assistant helping him. | Он продолжил работу, а его помощник помогал ему. |
Независимый причастный оборот может вводиться предлогом with, который на русский язык не переводится, (the Prepositional Absolute Participial Construction):
| With inflation rate going down, the buying behavior has changed. | Так как уровень инфляции снижается, изменилось потребление. |
| The territory extends for about 200 miles, with а breadth varying from 50 to 100 miles. | Территория простирается на 200 миль, причем ширина ее изменяется от 50 до100 миль. |
Иногда причастие может опускаться (the Nominative Absolute Construction / the Prepositional Absolute Construction).
Функции и перевод независимого оборота без причастия аналогичны функциям и способам перевода независимого причастного оборота:
The Nominative Absolute Construction:

The Prepositional Absolute Construction:
