The Collected Works Vol.II pg.61 PB, 1906

Note: White Poppy does not appear in the 1905 edition of Alice: An Adultery. Also in the 1903

edition, between the pre-penultimate verse and the penultimate verse, there is a note which states,

"The Editor regrets that he is unable to publish this verse" which suggests the exclusion of a

verse. The verse in the 1903 edition which starts "And in the desperate pang" is different in The

Collected Works which has this verse as "Ha! in the desperate..."

Note: Crowley, "The book is called White Stains and is commonly quoted by my admirers as evidence of my addiction to every kind of unmentionable vice. Asses! It is, indeed, technically, an obscene book, and yet the fact that I wrote it proves the purity of my heart and mind in the most extraordinary fashion."The Crowley Cross-Index (1976) pg.32 item No.188/2 refers to a pirated edition of White Stains which supposedly appeared in the UK in 1973 but no copy has been traced.
