Theme: Mass Media in our life

The aim:

1)Communicative: To present language and speech material on the theme “Mass Media” and put it into practice.

2) Educational:

· To enlarge pupils’ outlook, to present knowledge about the culture of the country of the studied language.

· To raise pupil’s interests in learning about Mass Media.

· To enrich learners’ knowledge about English grammar.

3) Developing:

· To develop pupils’ cognitive mechanisms, such as critical thinking and memory.

Objectives:

1) To practice pupils’ communicative skills by learning new vocabulary

2) To encourage students to share ideas by explaining that analyzing the photos.

3) to practice the grammar with interesting exercises

 

Aids: textbook smart board, cards, and blackboard, pictures.

Introduction Greeting Warm-up activity Checking home task Introduction of the new material Consolidation of the new material Concluding the lesson Assem’s greeting was about 1-2minutes. It was in the following order -Good morning, pupils! -How are you today? -Who is on duty today? -What date is it today? -What day is it today? -What is the weather like today? -Who is absent? Lesson started with high mood. Assem could create a good rapport with learners.     In the stage of warming-up activity Assem took to learners interesting game. Pupils tried to play it as quicker as they can. It was very fun for learners to remember previous lessons’ words. Game “What is there?” 2.Teacher puts inside of pencil-case sheet of papers with words and gives it to the students. They must find that word’s definition; students must to sit in a round; when teacher switches on the music the pencil-case goes on in hands of students and until stopping of the music students must transfer with each other , when music is stopped student who holds the pencil-case should take one paper with word and say its definition. In order to check up home works of pupils she at first asked what exercises were given to home. What was your home task for today? Are you ready? Now, let’s check. Assem could assess everyone on the lesson and when children had mistakes she tried to correct as quickly as possible. By listening each other’s mistakes children tried not to do mistakes.     Assem at first starts the lesson with explaining the new theme “Mass Media”. In order to lead in the new themeshe asked question as “What is “mass media”, tell me please?” Then she said that the mass media actually rule the world and play a very important part in our lives. Then she asked : “And now tell me what types of mass-media do you know? Which sources of information mass media includes?” P: I know TV, the Internet, newspapers, magazines and radio. T: What types of mass-media do you use in your everyday life? P: In my everyday life I usually use TV, the Internet, radio and newspapers.     Then Assem continued the lesson with interesting exercise: So students, I see you know the main media. But what are their definitions?

Your task is to match the words with their definitions:
  1. a paper printed and sold usually daily or weekly with news, advertisements etc.;
  2. the process of sending and receiving messages through the air; broadcasting programmes for people to listen to;
  3. broadcasting programmes (the news, plays, advertisements, shows, etc.) for people to watch on their television sets;
  4. a newspaper with rather small pages, many pictures and little serious news;
  5. a way to communicate with your partner who might be a thousand miles away using the computer (e-mails).
    Assem could conclude the lesson by asking questions as Do you understand our new theme? Do you have any questions? Children asked their questions concerning with the theme. Then teacher evaluated students and gave them home task. Home task was to read the text in the ex:3 on page 136 and learn by heart new words.
Advantages Disadvantages
  Teacher Assem could achieve educational and developing aims during the lesson. Learners understood new theme and new vocabulary. She used simple language in order to make it understandable for learners. She explained each exercise’s task.   During the process of checking home tasks Assem did not correct mistakes of learners. She did not manage time, she missed 5 minutes. In some sentences she made grammatical mistakes.
