People look around me for inspiration.
There is plenty of evidence that technology is making many of us lazy communicators, that texting alone is eroding language proficiency, and that social networking makes relationships with “friends” or “connections” increasingly superficial.
People use mail voice, text, e-mail, or letter. Text messaging, chat abbreviations, and social shorthand have created a language that resembles english less and less each day. Being “friends” with people we have not met in the physical world makes me a little uncomfortable at times. That said, the technology that enables such communication amazes people and for one communicate much more, the more elaborate the means become.
Technology is amazing to people and the most impressive application is the communication it enables.
10. Case for and against advertising: Advertising shamelessly exploits people’s gullibility and promotes excessive consumerism. How far do you agree with it?
One of the main arguments for advertising is that it generates wealth for a country. That is to say, taxes paid on goods sold, help governments to pay for essential services such as education and health care. Moreover, the number of jobs created for producing, marketing and servicing these goods helps to reduce the unemployment problem, which is also a great advantage for a country's economy.
What is more, advertising raises money for a huge number of sporting events and artistic performances which would otherwise not be held. Without sponsorship from companies who advertise their products, these events would disappear due to lack of funding. In other words, although consumerism is promoted through advertising, it is beneficial to both the consumer and society.
On the other hand, advertisements can cause people to be dissatisfied with what they already have, and make them want more. Being exposed again and again to products which one cannot afford produces frustration and dissatisfaction. Not all parents are in a position to afford the goods which their children see advertised and want to possess. This often leads to feelings of inadequacy, especially among the less well-off.
11. Classical music and popular music: the genuine and the spurious. Does classical music still matter?
Rock, pop, rap - those are cool music genres. But classical music? That's for old people. At least, that's what many of my peers think. Here are five reasons why my generation should listen to classical music:
1. Classical music "makes you smarter." Although classical music doesn't literally enlarge your brain or turn you into Einstein, its orderly structure refreshes your mind. Classical music is organized and intelligent.
2. Classical music enriches your emotional experiences. We're teenagers. We're the most moody, emotional people around. But the music we listen to doesn't lend value to our experiences.
3. Classical music inspires creativity
4. Classical music is moral and lovely.
5. Classical music reflects the qualities of God.

12. People are destroying various ecosystems, totally oblivious to the impact of their behaviour. Why has the protection of the environment proved to be an uphill struggle?

Nowadays society is facing a number of environmental problems, such as the depletion of the ozone layer, greenhouse warming, pollution of air, water and land. The depletion of the ozone layer is very dangerous as it increases UV radiation affecting all living organisms. To solve the problem of greenhouse warming people must reduce energy use. We could do this by turning off lights, turning down heaters and air conditioners, building more energy efficient buildings, shutting doors, and driving with a light foot.
Cleaning up air pollution is one of the main problems at present. Exhaust fumes from the engines of automobiles contain a number of polluting substances, which is damaging to people’s healthOne of the climatic effects of air pollution is acid rain. It is damaging to water, forest, and soil. It is blamed for the disappearance of fish from many lakes and rivers.
The Chernobyl disaster in 1986 much of northern and eastern Europe experienced heavy nuclear fallout.
First of all people should change their attitude to it: they can plant trees and create parks for endangered animals, they can recycle their wastes. They should establish strict pollution control. To develop pollution-free engines.
13. Natural and man-made disasters. In what way do they reveal the society’s vulnerability?
Disasters are not random and do not occur by accident. They are the convergence of hazards and vulnerable conditions. Disasters not only reveal underlying social, economic, political and environmental problems, but unfortunately contribute to worsening them. Such events pose serious challenges to development. The Millennium Declaration recognizes the risk to development stemming from disasters and calls on the global community to “intensify our collective efforts to reduce the number and effects of natural hazards and man-made disasters”. Several studies have recently highlighted the fact that investments in development are in jeopardy unless precautionary action is taken toward reducing disaster risk. Yet few development organizations adopt a precautionary approach in the design and management of projects and fewer still recognize the role of environmental management in reducing disaster risk.
