b) I am the officer responsible for administration and supply. I handle the money. The cooks and stewards answer to me.
c) I do general maintenance on board ship. I chip, scrape and paint the hull and decks and keep lifeboats in good condition.
d) I work under orders from the Chief and under me there are juniors who do daily maintenance of important equipment.
e) My job is safety officer and I have responsibility for the ship eight hours a day.
f) I help the engineer with the propulsion equipment.
g) I work onboard with circuits, generators, switches and coils.
h) I order and store supplies. I am concerned with galley hygiene and the preparation of food.

Exercise.8. Translate into Russian.
1. На борту современных судов имеется много сложного оборудования.
2. Капитан отвечает за судно, его груз и команду.
3. Старший помощник (или старпом) это главный помощник капитана и глава Службы Эксплуатации.
4. Все штурмана несут вахту на навигационном мостике.
5. Каждый штурман должен знать как определить местоположение судна, проложить его курс по карте и взять пеленг.
