YOD, LIBER (Liber DCCCXXXI - 831)

Magick in Theory & Practice, Castle Bks pg.410 HB, 1965
Magick, Ed. by Grant/Symonds, Weiser NY pg.476 HB, 1974
The Equinox Vol.I:7 pg.93 HB, 1978
Gems from The Equinox pg.231 HB, 1988
Magick, S.Weiser Inc., ME (Liber ABA 1-4) pg.633 HB, 1994
Note: In The Equinox Crowley refers to this Liber as "Tav." It becomes Liber "Yod" in Magick in Theory & Practce. He has also written that, regarding this piece: "Liber IOD, formerly called Vesta. An instruction giving three methods of reducing the manifold consciousness to the Unity." In The Equinox this is referred to as DCCCXXXI (831). In the original edition of Magick in 1929 this Liber is listed as DCCCXXI (821). The Castle edition also lists this as Liber 821. When the Grant/Symonds edition of Magick as well as Gems from The Equinox appeared in 1974 the Liber was corrected to reflect Liber 831. Magick (ABA) released in 1994 also lists this as Liber 831. In fact, when Crowley first published A Syllabus of the Official Instructions of AA in The Equinox I:10 in 1913 he mentions Liber Yod on page 52 as being 831 and not 821. Further, in the same book on pg. 56 he explains that DCCCXXXI is the numeration of 'Phallos' spelt in Greek which explains why this Liber is 831. The Syllabus also appears in Magick in Theory & Practice Part III on pg.227 in 1929 listing Liber Yod as 831.
