Найвищий ступінь порівняння (The superlative degree)
Прикметники в англійській мові не змінюються ні за числами, ні за родами, ні за відмінками, а лише за ступенями порівняння. Якісні прикметники в англійській мові мають основну форму, вищий та найвищий ступені порівняння.
Форми вищого та найвищого ступенів порівняння прикметників можуть бути простими і складеними.
Прості форми ступенів порівняння утворюються додаванням до основної форми прикметника закінчення -erу вищому і -estу найвищому ступені. Іменник, що має означення, виражене прикметником у найвищому ступені, вживається з означеним артиклем the.

Якщо односкладовий прикметник закінчується однією приголосною з попереднім коротким голосним звуком, то кінцева приголосна перед закінченнями -erта -estподвоюється:
hot – hotter – the hottest
thin – thinner – the thinnest
big – bigger – the biggest
Якщо прикметник закінчується буквою -у з попередньою приголосною, то перед -er, -est -узмінюється на -і:
busy – busier – the busiest
dry– drier – the driest
easy – easier – the easiest
Якщо перед -у стоїть голосна, то -у залишається без змін:
gay – gayer – the gayest
Ступені порівняння деяких прикметників утворюються від інших коренів:

Складені форми ступенів порівняння прикметників утворюються додаванням до основної форми прикметника слова moreу вищому ступені та most – у найвищому. Найвищий ступінь порівняння складених прикметників зберігає означений артикль the перед словом most.

Unit IX. ПРИЙМЕННИК (PREPOSITION)
Як в українській, так і в англійській мові прийменники, зазвичай, багатозначні. Між англійськими та українськими прийменниками не існує постійного збігу.
Прийменники in / at / on / to.
Дуже часто прийменники входять до складу великої кількості сталих висловів. Один і той самий англійський прийменник має кілька українських еквівалентів, а один і той самий український прийменник перекладається різними англійськими прийменниками.
