The Kazakhstanians Are Coming
1. The Republic of Kazakhstan is situated in Central Asia at the intersection of routes that lead from the West to the East and from the North to the South.. It is neighbored clockwise from the north by Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, and also borders on a large part of the Caspian Sea. The terrain of Kazakhstan includes flatlands, steppe, taiga, rock canyons, hills, deltas, snow-capped mountains, and deserts. With 16.6 million people (2012 estimate)[7] Kazakhstan has the 62nd largest population in the world, though its population density is less than 6 people per square kilometre (15 per sq. mi.). The capital is Astana (previously Almaty).
2. Kazakhstan is one of the most economically developed countries in the CIS with a stable growth of GDP[1]. National industry manufactures a wide variety of technologically-complex products.
3. Kazakhstan positions itself to take a place in the top 10 global oil producers,. The timber and the woodworking industries are well developed, so are the light and the food industries. Since Kazakhstan and some CIS countries have formed a customs union, goods that were made in Kazakhstan can be exported to Russia, without any duties. Many foreign firms (there are 4000 firms with foreign capital in Kazakhstan) produce goods in Kazakhstan and sell them on the big markets of CIS countries.
4. 67 % of the GDP accounts for the export of goods and services. This fact reflects the high degree of openness of the Kazakhstan economy. For comparison, this index for the U.S. is 12%.
